LAIKA - RD 201783

PEPA is adverting for a new home for Laika on behalf of her owners. She was rescued along with her sister and they are much loved, however the two dogs have begun to fight at certain times and cannot be in the same room together. The owners have taken them to training and also consulted a dog behaviourist to no avail.

Laika is 2 years old and is sterilised, vaccinated, microchipped and has a passport. Here is her history as written by her owners:

“This beautiful girl is called Laika. She will turn 2 on February 1st and weighs about 26 kgs.

Almost two years ago she was found on the side of the road with her sister. The woman who had found them took them in, but that wasn’t an ideal situation as well. She was living in her car with other dogs, cats and two humans. After two months, we took both the girls in. They were dehydrated and malnourished but with time and patience we got them all better and happy.

After Laika got back on her feet, her character really came through. She is full of energy, loves to be close to you and is always up for an adventure. Both us and the vet think there is much border collie, so her energy is always high(except when she is relaxing, which she is quit good at too).

She would fit perfectly in a house with a big garden where she can go on adventures or just nap in the sun. A person/couple where she could get lots of cuddles and training, because she needs mental stimulation as well. Maybe not the best suit for a family with (young) children and cats.

Because they lived in a car for a while, we think she is a bit traumatised and doesn’t like to be in a car. With a bit of patience and training she will follow you to go on an adventure.
